Carbon Footprint & Recycling Education.

The TallerDeLaRosa Initiative is a diversified effort to be sustainable and ethical throughout all parts of our textile production. We have set a goal to reduce our carbon footprint, which is a measure of the impact human activities have on the environment based on our carbon output.

We strive to be as responsible and sustainable as the current industry allows us. Here are some actions we are taking:

A ‘sustainability efforts’ page on our website has been created to keep our customers informed of our process. It will also give information on how to reduce impact & end of life scenarios for products and waste.

Below we outline some key details about our brand production, shipping & packaging as well as how we are reducing our carbon footprint.

Production

Our eco-friendly sustainable products are made of natural and hypoallergenic fabrics, such as hemp, linen, silk, and cotton.

Only 20% of our products within the SERIE 01 collection are made with a small percentage of polyester, among other materials, to achieve the best confections in those specific garments.

50% of our products are made from pre-produced dead stock materials, sourced locally in México.

Our sheet collection is made from dead stock pre-produced, recycled & re-molded dead stock materials, sourced locally in México and Guatemala.

All of our products are handmade in México by fair-paid workers. Together, we strive to make luxurious, comfortable, and beautiful long lasting pieces.

Product Packaging

Our TallerDeLaRosa product bags are recyclable and reusable. Each item comes in a canavs bag and is meant to be kept and reused , not disposed.

We have formed an Eco-Packaging Alliance with our partner, NoIssue, to ensure our packaging is as sustainable as possible. With their help, our tissue paper used for pacaking is biodegradable and compostable, as well as our shipping bags, which are made from maize. Our alliance also allows us to contribute to global reforestation. For every packaging order placed, a tree is planted in the Amazon. This means every time you purchase a TallerDeLaRosa product, you are helping plant a tree in an area that needs it. Our NoIssue badge on our website shows our ongoing commitment to eco-goodness for our customers and for the environment.

Compostable

What it means:

Compostable packaging is typically made from a number of renewable plant-based materials and/or bio-polymers. To be certified as home compostable, a product must break down in a home compost within 180 days and within 90 days in commercial composting conditions.

Recycled 

What it means:

Recycled packaging is made from previously used plastic products, including single use bags, bottles and other common plastic items. The plastic is processed at a recycling facility and put back into circulation, thus doubling its lifespan.

Reusable 

What it means:

Reusable packaging is packaging that has a built-in second (and possibly third, fourth, etc.) use. While most packaging is typically single use, and recycled after it accomplishes its primary goal, reusable packaging can be used multiple times for a variety of functions.

Dead stock

What it means:

Dead stock fabric is often warehoused, but it can also subsequently be offered for sale and typically retains its original package and tags. We use obsolete stock and excess inventory to give new life to products.

Shipping Packaging

Our adhesive thermal printed packing slips and labels are certified “Compostable, Bio-Based & Non-GMO”. The compostable direct thermal labels do not have a protective top coat. This is to ensure that the labels are not eco-toxic and are aligned with ASTM D6400 compostability requirements.

Our packing slips are placed on bio-degradable tissue paper and card stock.

Our poly bags are 100% compostable, vegan and fabricated in a facility that is required by Labor Laws to cut emissions as well as adhere to a ‘Clean Air Policy’ which means remove toxins and pollutants in the air used during the manufacturing process.

We’ve always believed one of the most beautiful things about making TallerDeLaRosa is creating everyday essentials for stylish modern women, with the goal of fostering innate recycling practices. Clothes should be used repeatedly without altering its elegance— and that is often where the honest sentimental value lays. Making a conscientious purchase that aligns with your values and using that item throughout different moments in your life gives the piece personal meaning. Through this initiative, we see upcycling as a natural step in the fashion industry.

The main intention of this initiative is to "close the cycle" of purchasing and discarding. We want to support the 'slow movement' with fabrics that are durable, natural and gentle on both our body and the environment.

We know that no company is perfect, but we want to contribute what we can to spreading awareness and reducing our carbon footprint within the industry.

We do believe that sustainable practices should be should be a standard.

Reducing Your Impact

There are many ways that we, as individuals, can lessen our impact on the planet and the finite resources it contains. This list below provides a general outline of things we can all do to become more environmentally conscious consumers:

1. Reduce - Reduce our overall consumption of “things” in general. This can be as simple as turning off the faucet while brushing our teeth, taking shorter showers with colder water, or pacing the amount of air conditioning we use in the summer or heat in the winter.  Carpooling reduces gasoline consumption and reduces the number of cars on the road. You can change most of your essential mail over to paperless; plus, many newspapers, magazines, and bills can be viewed online.

2. Buy used products – Purchasing pre-owned materials reduces demand for raw materials, and some pre-owned products are just as functional as their newer counterparts.  This will usually cost you less money as well!

3. Buy more durable products – Choosing a higher quality durable product over cheaper disposable alternatives is a great way to reduce consumption, and also waste for long term.

4. Buy consciously – When available, purchase products that include recycled content or that have reduced environmental impact.

We know that it is not realistic to be 100% sustainable because there aren’t enough systems in place to allow it, but we are trying our best as a small business.
